Flip the calendar, scratch the steelhead itch!

    ByTom November 22, 2009

You know the feeling… Hunting seasons are a memory, the leaves are all but gone from the trees and then comes that unmistakable chill in the air that renders our breath visible. You start looking for the “Annual Steelhead Edition” of your favorite magazine and start tying leaders for no apparent reason. While most people…

    Blacktails in the Rut

    Byrobendsley November 20, 2009

Blacktail deer are the toughest big game animal to hunt here in the Northwest because of where they live. For 49 weeks a year they burrow themselves into the west side jungle, worming themselves into the deepest, darkest holes they can find. One step and they're gone. Sometimes you get a glimpse of them in…

Big Game Photos, Some Goofy, Some Not

    Byrobendsley November 17, 2009

Each and every week I invariably end up with a gaggle of hunting and fishing photos, some of which make it past the initial screening and onto The Outdoor Line. Here's a handful of hunting photos that made the grade: Bill Swann from Swanny's Fishing zapped me a photo of this crazy Unit 99 antelope…

Return of the Living Razor Clams

    Byrobendsley November 16, 2009

This weekends coastal razor clam dig was the perfect opportunity to top of our nearly full freezer with some of the finest eating critters on the West Coast. Nicole and I rendesvous'd near Ocean Shores, Washington with my parents, Rob Tobeck and his wife Sonya, Bear Holmes of the CCA, and Gabe Miller from Sportco…

    Clams and Clam Chowder

    Byrobtobeck November 15, 2009

The aroma of clam chowder is filling the air in the house right now and I can't wait to sample my first bowl.  Endsley invited my wife Sonya and I to join his family in Ocean City on Saturday for some razor clam digging.  Having never had the chance to dig razor clams before, I decided to…

    ByTom November 15, 2009

On behalf of deer and elk populations everywhere as well as our friends the farmers and ranchers I am proud to stand up and say: "I am afraid, I am very afraid." This wolf was shot recently in Drayton Valley , Alberta which is near Edmonton about 3 hours North of Calgary. The wolf weighs…

    The Early Years

    Byrobendsley November 13, 2009

I can still remember the age of 14 months. Watching soap opera's with mom, guzzling Sierra Nevada, hucking puree'd carrots all over the living room, and reading fishing mags all day long. Ah, those were the good old days! I'm happy to see that the apple didn't fall far from the tree with my little…

Its gangs like these that the people of Helena have to put up with.. A bit different from the problems in other cities… It proves that every State has their own "unique" gang problems.
